Spray Tanning Tips for beginners

Pre-Tan Preparation

  • EXFOLIATE YOUR SKIN up to 24 hours before your appointment.

  • WAX OR SHAVE Prior to your tanning session.

  • REMOVE OR Avoid wearing make-up and body moisturizer as this acts as a barrier to the spray and stops the process from working properly.

WHAT TO WEAR

You may wear as little as you like or a full bathing suit. Most people go nude or wear a g-string, but this is a personal choice.

Post Tanning Session

  • ALWAYS BRING loose-fitting clothing and flip-flops AFTER your tanning appointment.

  • I recommend a loose fitting t-shirt or a cotton dress. Plan not to wear anything tight, and that goes for undergarments too. I prefer you not wear a bra directly following your tanning session. The cosmetic bronzer may rub off on clothing.

  • It will wash out of most fabrics but may stain nylons, lycra, and silks.

  • Always wash your hands following your spray tanning session, but be careful not to let any excess water touch any other parts of your body.

  • Wait for 6 to 8 hours before taking your first shower. During the showers following your tan, try to gently wash your body with your hands only. Avoid exfoliating and pat yourself dry.

Tips For Maintaining Your Beautiful Tan

  • APPLY MOISTURIZER morning and evening after your post-tan shower.

  • AVOID moisturizers with AHA (Alpha Hydroxy Acid) because they promote exfoliation.

  • Jergens makes a spray tan Extender Lotion and Cetaphil is also another great lotion option.

  • AVOID long, hot showers and scrubbing the skin. AND NO BATHS. Soaking in water is not good for the tan.

Frequently Asked Questions

How long before my wedding, prom, etc., should I get my spray tan?

I recommend getting your spray tan either the day before or two days before your big day to ensure a flawless tan. If you are getting a wax, manicure, or pedicure make sure to do those beauty services BEFORE coming to get your sunless tan.

What should I wear during my spray tan?

You can wear as little or as much as you’d like. Keep in mind that whatever you wear will leave a tan line!  Guys must cover the "goods".

How long will my spray tan last?

Your tan will last 8 to 10 days.

Does my spray tan protect me from sunburn?

Unfortunately, your spray tan does not contain any SPF and will not protect you from getting burnt!  So please, ladies, wear your sunscreen!

How long will my appointment take?

You can plan on your appointment to take about 15-20 minutes from start to finish.

Can I moisturize with oil?

Oils like coconut oil, olive oil, and even baby oil will quickly strip your spray tan.  In fact, using an oil with your exfoliant is a great way to remove your old spray tan.  For this reason, I recommend NOT using oils as moisturizers.
